BFP is more than happy to discuss the cost of publishing your book with you in conversation, over the telephone. Once we have seen your manuscript and can determine what needs to be done to it prior to being printed for publication, and knowing certain things like, is the book simply a black and white text, or an all color book, BFP is then able to begin a cost work-up on your book. We also need to know how many books will be printed, and will the book be a POD book or an offset printed book. What size will the book be and will it be a hardback cover, saddle stitched or a perfect bind. The number of pages must also be determined. Are there pictures? If so, how many? How many special scans will be needed for those extra items you have or want included in your book? These are some of the items BFP and you, the author, will have to decide upon before we can give you an accurate quote. Anything less would be nothing more than guess work and we would be doing you a disservice instead of providing you with an accurate figure.
Lastly, BFP no longer does any foreign language translations. They are too costly, too cumbersome and too much trouble. Besides, nobody wants to buy them for the most part, that is, unless you want to buy them and send them overseas for someone else to sell wherever!!! We cannot refer you either.
Whether you choose to submit your book to BFP or not, and whether you make a decision to publish with BFP or not, is up to you. We may be disappointed that you make a decision to publish elsewhere, but don’t trade experience and close mentoring for a cheap program where nobody cares that much about your book other than getting your publishing money. With BFP we like to have a closer relationship with our authors than most other publishers prefer. Why? Because most publishers consider that too much interaction with their authors can be open doors for potential problems. The less they talk to you, the better… for them. The old adage that “too much knowledge is dangerous,” just may be too true for most publishers. With BFP, this publishing experience is not a family process, but it is a team effort with you in control of your time, your manuscript work, your money and your publishing destiny. Once BFP and you decide to work together and a contract is signed, please don’t go away and do nothing. Let us teach you about what is happening with your book, then the next time it will be much clearer and more understandable to you. You will trust and enjoy the process more.
Please email us at
authorinfo@blackforestpress.net or call us at (423) 212-1208 Eastern Standard Time for information. If you are a first time author, BFP suggests that you get some other quotes and publishing information before you come to us. Make a list of meaningful questions to be presented to BFP based on the initial information and data you have collected. As we answer your questions you will quickly note that BFP is where real publishing excellence and personal attention is found.
You will get accurate information from us and not a bunch of gibberish that doesn’t make good sense, If someone else sounds too good to be true, trust us, it’s too good to be true. Get what you want committed to paper and read the fine lines of any publishing contracts, and look for the proverbial hook or hidden clause which will not hold a publisher responsible for something that should not have gone wrong with your publishing.
If you presently do not have enough funding for publishing, or are not ready to publish your work, for one reason or another, I urge you to call me, Dahk Knox, at (423) 212-1208 between 10:00am and 6:00pm EST, Monday through Friday. I will be happy to guide you through the publishing process whether you publish with BFP or not. Let me keep you out of publishing trouble and help you hold on to and/or save money you don’t need to spend. Does that make sense to you? If it does, then call me. I’ll be happy to speak with you about eventually publishing your book without worry, when you are fully ready and can afford it.
When you feel the time is right for you to publish, give BFP a call and then submit your manuscript to us for review. We look forward to hearing from you and reading your work. Come to us with ideas for your work, with excitement about getting your manuscript published and with questions that need solid answers and accurate guidance and direction. Let’s work together in making your book publishing effort a pleasure and a learning experience. Be part of the process, not left out in the dark.
When you contract us, ask for Dr. Dahk Knox, BFP Publisher.
